Away with the (tooth) fairies.

Let's have a quick vote:
What's the worst?
1) the toothache that wakes you up at 4am (think Helm's Deep)
2) the fear of that pain returning once the painkillers will wear off and the wary watching of that pulsating, only-just-numbed sensation in your jaw
3) the dawning realisation that the antibiotics appear to be losing the battle against the inflamed root canal (and, alas, that's not the dawning that brings Gandalf and the Rohirim to save the day)
4) the actual root canal treatment that's in the offing
or
5) the black, gaping abyss that will be my bank account after said root canal treatment.

As it is, I am congratulating myself on every hour that exceeds my self-set 8-hour-mark without me taking another painkiller. Right now, it's been 12, no 13 hours (Way to go, you just stick to your lukewarm-and-soft-food-and-drink-only diet!), but I've been taught last night that that's not something to go by.

Talking of which... Last night.
A friend had been given two spare tickets to what we thought was "Mamma mia, the Musical". Turned out it wasn't the musical at all, but a sitting-down concert of some ABBA revival band. There simply are no words... No adequate words to describe the ill-fitting wigs and eye liner on those 22-year-old boys, the girls' slightly-too-loud singing, the fake cheerfulness of everyone on stage, their forced and honestly futile attempts of animating the largely elderly audience, our musings about the thin line between performance and prostitution, and the unutterable relief (and disbelief) when we found out which ludicrous price someone (and apparently everyone else in the theatre) had happily paid for these tickets!
Now, the music itself wasn't half bad. And the platform shoes, the glitter, the white-and-rhinestone suits with flares you could camp underneath, the choreography, all that was fine. If only those musicians hadn't appeared to be gritting their teeth quite so much...

Which takes me back to that other topic.
Where's a damn good tooth fairy that actually deserves the name when you need her?

liebe Grüße, und nur Mut (in echt)

  2. Tja, Zahn ziehen lassen ist natürlich auch noch ne Option. Aber der ist da so mitten drin in der Reihe und Geld für n Implantat hab ich erst recht nicht...
